This week did not go as expected. I started off the week with a strong 5 mile run on Monday, and then Tuesday I was planning a rest day because of my busy weekend. Like I shared in my previous post, I got sick late Tuesday night with some sort of stomach bug, so on Wednesday there was no way I could run because I was either sleeping or throwing up (sorry, I know TMI). After Wednesday, I started feeling a little better but definitely not great, so I decided to take a few days off after to let my body recover. But I was back at it on Sunday with a 13.1 mile run and felt more like my old self.
Now, I am ready to fully commit to the last three weeks of the Nike Half Marathon Training schedule. It is so crazy how fast these weeks have flown by, but I really always feel this way when it comes to training. My training really started off great, I have had some bumps along the road, but now I am more determined than ever to be in my best running shape coming to DC. Hopefully, I won’t be sick again and that nothing else gets in the way of this goal!
Another exciting thing is that it seems to finally be Spring here in St. Louis. This week’s forecast has some rain in it, but at least the temperatures are mostly in the 60’s – the way it should be! I am looking forward to be consistently running outside. This winter has been brutal so it will be a very welcome change of pace.
