Weekly Recap & Looking Ahead

I’m less than 2 weeks out from my fourth half marathon and the training is almost done! I really enjoy the program that I use because I still can push myself but don’t feel like the running is that crazy where it controls my life.

Monday—Rest Day

Tuesday—TaeBo workout

Wednesday—Ran 4.5 miles on the treadmill (10:54 pace)

Thursday—Ran 4.5 miles on the treadmill (10:52 pace)

Friday—Step Up Dance Revolution Workout

Saturday—Ran 9 miles on the treadmill (10:41 pace—yippy!!)

Sunday—Rest Day

This week will be my final week of high mileage and will conclude with a 10 mile run on Sunday! I’m super excited about Little Rock Half Marathon on Sunday March 2nd largest medals…it will give the Mississippi Blues a run for its size! I’m excited about the expo (I’m so spoiled with the Shamrock Shuffe Expo and Rock N Roll ones), but hopefully I can score a few good items! I’ve also signed up for the pre-race evening Pasta Party (much easier than finding a place to go eat to carb load beforehand) and I’ve also gotten the VIP treatment for race day (private potties, gear check, pre and post race snacks/beverages, massages, and a photo). Both of those extras were $25 a piece, which was pretty reasonable in my book and now I won’t have to worry about dinner while in Little Rock or bringing extra Gatorade/water/snacks with me to the race while trying to find the shortest port-a-potty line.

The hotel that I’m staying at provides a free shuttle to the expo, pasta party, and race. This will be very nice so I don’t have to worry about paying for parking on race day or at the expo. Plus I’ll be surrounded by other runners who are just as crazy as myself, so I can find out about other awesome races around the country in my quest to run the 50 states 🙂

Only 10 days until I leave for my EPIC adventure to Little Rock!

  1. How fun!! Sounds like you’re getting excited! 😉

  2. I’m very impressed that the pasta dinner and VIP package are only $25 each! That seems very reasonable considering some of the prices I’ve seen for the add ons at other races recently.

  3. Yeah, I paid almost $50 for VIP treatment at the Rock N Roll in Chicago last year.. while it included a parking pass, I was unimpressed at what I actually received… plus the “VIP treatment” was super far away from the start (the regular gear check was more convenient!). I won’t have signed up for VIP in Little Rock, but when I was talking to someone in Mississippi, she told me to definitely spend the extra money on the VIP treatment b/c she just happened to stumble upon it when she ran there and it was very nice. So far, I’ve been very impressed with Little Rock… they sent a very fancy race book in the mail today that is 50 pages filled with maps, information, places to eat and more!!
